Oceanhead Meditation
Oceanhead Meditation is about observing, and finding, elegance and beauty within something in constant movement and infinite change. Tides create instant, unique landscapes. What looks simple from a distance is profoundly complex and nuanced upon closer examination
All the changes happening at the shore are the result of invisible forces: wind, gravity, and the underwater landscape We can only see the effect of these forces on the physical world, and I find that very interesting.Making art in collaboration with a volatile subject made sense to me at the time. There is beauty in all things.
These images were made using a large format camera (5x7 or 8x10), digitally edited, enlarged to make a negative, and hand printed on archival cotton paper with a solution of platinum and palladium metal salts. The platinum printing process process has a long, subtle tonal scale. It is a very archival process that was very popular in the late 19th and early 20th century.
