Landscape Workshop At Newport Art Museum / by Ron Cowie

How often have you looked at a landscape and felt a connection? The personal landscape workshop is about tuning into that connection with our cameras and creating a personal dialogue between the external and our internal worlds. This workshop is designed for intermediate and advanced photographers to better connect what they are seeing with how they are feeling. The goal is to create a cohesive body of landscape images in either color or black and white over the period of several weeks. Group critiques, technical suggestions, slide talks and field trips will provide many opportunities to grow as an artist and explore new vistas in your personal work. Participants should have a solid working knowledge of their cameras and basic understanding of photography in general. This is not a class for beginners.

You are invited to a five week workshop on Thursday nights, April 6th to May 4th from 7-9pm.

If you, or someone you know, loves to photograph landscapes, this workshop will helptheir ability to see and connect with the world around them.
Here is a quick rundown of topics and material the workshop we will cover:

  • We will look at and discuss the work of past and present landscape photographers. This will be a jumping off point for deeper discussion about what makes a successful landscape image.
  • There will be weekly assignments to help put into practice ideas and inspiration gained from the presented images and discussion
  • Technical suggestions for getting the most out of your camera to make photography more intuitive.
  • The constant reminder that this is fun.

I hope you consider joining me for a great way to kick off the early spring. Please forward this to anyone you know who might be interested. Space is limited to nine participants and it will fill up quickly.

Thanks,
Ron
