I’ve been playing with New Cyanotype formulas and really haven’t looked back. The tones are so smooth and it feels like I can finally make a fairly expressive print.
The main difference between New Cyanotype and Classic Cyanotype, aside from the formula, is the smoothness of the former compared to the latter. I know you can get great results with the classic but, I’ve never seen a smoother scale with almost zero graininess. It really is something.
The project I’m working on now, if I can even call it that, is making landscapes at night. The academic part is seeing just what I can do with extremes of contrast range but, I’m also interested in the spaces themselves. 2020 has thrown a lot of change-ups at all of us. I’m interested in what remains consistent in the world. What is eternal around us. I’ve really had to hold fast to that for the sake of my own sanity.
